On our doorstep – Heritage and Medicine

We have the privilege of living in arguably, the best suburb in Melbourne, but how much attention do we give to the endeavours we are not actively engaged in?

We wander through the leafy streets assuming perhaps that nothing will change and deprive us of the beauty of our surroundings. Many members may not be aware of the effort and expertise the EMG applies to the preservation of heritage and our peaceful enjoyment of this suburb.

Similarly, we assume we have all the medical services we will ever need, as we are surrounded by hospitals and research institutes. What a comfort it is to know that the very best medical treatment is only a stone’s throw away!

How much do we take these institutions for granted – the EMG itself, the National Trust and the biomedical precinct?

This seminar series – An introduction to Philanthropy paints a larger picture of what lies behind the funding of these bodies, what makes them tick, and what is really happening there.

We hope you will enjoy this series and find something that ignites your passion. We can each play a part in creating a better future for our society. As a famous person once said – We make a living by what we earn, but a life by what we give.
