Committee matters

Parks and Gardens

The Garden Club at the East Melbourne Library is progressing with the new garden beds with the help from the Mens Shed (Picture)

We have met with Councillors Guest, and Camillo, and council officers to suggest installing tables and seats around Fitzroy Gardens.

Concern has been expressed about the herbicides used in Yarra Park and the possible impact on dogs. MCC have advised they are safe.

Heritage and Planning

179-183 Hotham St

The 7 days hearing before 2 VCAT Members concluded on 15th October.

We now await a decision.

Federal Member Sarah Witty

Our President (Greg Bisinella), Vice President (Shelley Faubel). and Susan Henderson met with our new Federal Member Sarah Witty and discussed the issue of aircraft noise. It was pointed out that while a report had been prepared for the responsible minister by the East Melbourne Aircraft Noise Taskforce, it has not been released to us. Sarah’s advisor had also not seen the report. However they believe it recommends flight paths be amended. They continue to push the Minister to release the report.

Melbourne Marathon

EMG Committee discussed the Marathon on Sunday 12th October. The street closures, and  the inability of residents to get in to or out from their properties caused some residents to park kilometres away.  Event organisers are looking at running the event along Wellington Pde next year. Please send feedback to Anne Graham.

Yarra Park Master Plan

The documents are published on the MCG website. A survey has been made available for members of the public to respond.
